The Story of the Match
BROMLEY the SkyBet League leaders came from behind to beat Shrewsbury Town last night 2-1 at the Copperjax Community Stadium in front of 4,780 fans down in leafy Bromley as they look like certainties for promotion to League 1 come the 2nd of May as they went seven points clear at the top of the table with four matches remaining of the season.
Shrewsbury Town opened the scoring against the run of play in fine style in the 6th minute after a fast counter attack through Bradley Ihionvien with a left footed shot which Grant Smith almost smothered but the force of the shot took it over the line to give the visitors the lead from an assist by Tom Anderson to make it 0-1.
The visitors were comfortable soaking up the Bromley pressure until six minutes before the interval when Bromley equalised to make it 1-1 in the 39th minute through Marcus Ifill with a right footed shot at the back post hooked in from an assist by Will Hondemarck.
After the interval Bromley upped the gears and four minutes into the second half Kyle Cameron volleyed in with a left footed shot to make it 2-1 after heavy pressure on the Shrewsbury goal.
This is Bromley's first ever Football League home game against Shrewsbury Town, at the Copperjax Community Stadium in Hayes Lane, Bromley with the reverse fixture this season finishing 0-0. Bromley pushed for an equaliser before the interval with Kabamba and Sowunmi pushed into the penalty area for their height and it paid off with an equaliser to make it 1-1 in the 39th minute through Marcus Ifill with a right footed shot at the back post hooked in from an assist by Will Hondemarck. Bradley Ihionvien was yellow carded in the 45th+1 minute.
The teams went in level at 1-1 at the interval. Kevin Berkoe was yellow carded in the 48th minute. Bromley kicked off the second half. Bromley went 2-1 in the 49th minute after heavy pressure on the Shrewsbury Town goal and Kyle Cameron volleyed in with a left footed finish to make it 2-1 to the Ravens.
